Welcome to our second matric workshop of 2019. We shall once again focus on the skills necessary to succeed in the final exam papers. This workshop will focus on the skills needed for Paper 2 (Chemistry), especially understanding, drawing, interpreting and calculating with graphs; in addition to other exam-related skills.
MATRIC SCIENCE WORKSHOP: EXAM SKILLS FOR PAPER 2: CHEMISTRY
DATES: Any ONE selected day from 19th to the 30th August 2019 – PTO for details
TIME: 8h30 TO 12h30, or 12h30 to 16h00 (morning or afternoon sessions)
NB: Please be seated by 8h30(morning) or 12h30 (afternoon) - Schools arriving late might not receive worksheets!
VENUES: Richards Bay, Pongola, Piet Retief, Nongoma, Eshowe, Nqutu, Vryheid. (see overleaf for details)
OPEN TO: All MATRIC Physical Science Learners (Grade 12) and Educators.
TOPIC: Exam skills for succeeding in paper 2: Chemistry. Especially graph skills (drawing and interpreting: this was highlighted by the examiners as a problem area last year). Grade 12 (plus parts from Grades 10 & 11) Science will be covered, with many experiments demonstrated and examples from recent exams treated.
BOOKLET COST: R20.00 (TWENTY RAND) per learner (Educators are free), for a 48 page booklet.
NB: No learners may attend the workshop without purchasing the booklet!!
Please note that the SAME programme will be repeated each day, so it is necessary to attend on only one day, at any venue that is the most suitable for you (and available!). If you have Grade 12 learners who could benefit by attending, please use the information over the page to reserve a place for them. Kindly show this letter to your principal as well.

As we are hoping to present the workshop to more than 5 000 learners, it is essential that educators MAKE A BOOKING to attend. We can accommodate only a limited number of learners each day and schools without a booking NUMBER will not be allowed to attend. Follow the instructions below CAREFULLY to avoid problems later. Note the daily venues; choose the ONE which suits you best.

NB. EDUCATORS PLEASE NOTE: We will be holding two workshops at some venues on the same day, one in the morning at 8:30 - 12:30 followed by 12:30 - 16:00. Local Schools should attend the second session. When you phone please indicate which session you must attend.

We realize that phoning is difficult for some of you but it is unfortunately the only way we can let you know whether there is space on a particular day.
2) GIVE US THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION (over the phone)

-SCHOOL’S name and your district
-NUMBER of matric learners you want to bring
-YOUR name (as Science Educator)
3) We shall tell you whether that day is still available and confirm your booking over the phone with a booking number. Learners will be given worksheets to complete, but must also BRING:
- A HARDCOVER book to press on, - A pen, pencil, spare paper AND A RULER, - PLUS A CALCULATOR
NB: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BOOKING NUMBER, YOU DO NOT HAVE A BOOKING
AND MAY BE TURNED AWAY FROM THE VENUE!!
PLEASE ENSURE YOU COLLECT LEARNER MONEY BEFORE ARRIVAL!
